It’s rained for more than forty days and endless nights. The lightning strikes the bell for one more meaningless fight. In jealousy and bitter ecstasy we lie. I guess we’ll watch Mother Nature, as she lights the sky with her angry cries. The ebb and flow of waves come crashing on the beach. The promise of our glory days seems out of reach. Forgetting what it feels like to be held that way. And now it’s mostly silence and a slow decay. Why do we both stay? Chorus: We can’t help but play each other’s games. Feels so right when we lie in shame. To you, it might not be all the same, but I’ve gotta tell you anyhow, You’re just what I needed right now. You’re just what I needed right now. The thunder leaves, finally, we both start to cry. Sitting bare, watching the sea, we both wonder why, Did you scare me and I scare you, darlin', oh so bad? I guess we didn’t realize the good thing we had. [Chorus] If you need me, too, then we can see what I won’t go through.

Yeah you know, one day comes and another day goes, and you can’t do nothin’ to stop it. The best thing might be to just drop it. Well you know, one day it rains and another it snows, and you can try to escape it, but you might just have to stand and take it. It’s the law, naturally, but the law comes back eventually to make you wiser. Don’t you despise her. Yes, the one thing that you’ve gotta remember, whether it’s March or even September, whether you love yourself or you love your mother, it’s six of one, half dozen of the other. If you know what’s best for you, the world is green, the skies are blue. Don’t take it too personally, and don’t take it too professionally. It’s the best of ways to live, to know there ain’t no cares to give. So, if you love yourself or you love your mother, it’s six of one, half dozen of the other.
